Ailing Arminia axe Frontzeck

Relegation-threatened Arminia Bielefeld have sacked coach Michael Frontzeck following their 6-0 thrashing by Borussia Dortmund in the penultimate game of the season.

The 45-year-old has been axed with his side in the bottom three and with just one game of the Bundesliga season remaining.

Frontzeck had been in charge of Bielefeld for the last 16 months but his side failed to win any of their last nine games.

A club statement read: "No decision has been taken concerning a replacement."

Bielefeld face Hannover in their final match of the season on Saturday and must win to have any chance of escaping the drop.
