Aris appoint Alcaraz as coach

Greek Super League club Aris named experienced Spaniard Lucas Alcaraz as their new coach and said he would remain in his post at least till the end of the season.

No financial details of the contract were revealed by the Salonica team.

Alcaraz, 46, replaces Makis Katsavakis who was let go last month.

"I came to Aris in order to help them meet their goals. It is a very difficult situation and we will need the help of everyone, and especially the club's supporters," said Alcaraz, who is taking charge of his ninth club.

Aris is presently 13th in the 16-team league with just 11 points from 13 matches.

Alcaraz previous coaching experience was all in Spain with Almeria (2011-2012 and 1998), Cordoba (2009-2011), Recreativo Huelva (2008-2009 and 2000-2003), Murcia (2006-2008), Xerez (2005-2006), Racing Santander (2003-2005), Dos Hermanas (1999-2000) and Granada (1995-1998).
