ARGENTINA

The mercurial Maradona used over 100 players in qualifying and his side scraped through with a dramatic win against Uruguay in their last game. Team spirit is said to be high in the camp, however, and with players of the quality of Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez, Diego Milito and the evergreen Juan Sebastian Veron at their disposal, Argentina will take some stopping in South Africa.

Prediction - Group winners
Odds - 13/2

GREECE

Having started in well in qualifying, Greece fell away and needed a 2-1 win against Luxembourg in their final game to seal a play-off spot. Ukraine were their opponents, and after a 0-0 draw at home, Otto Renhagel's men claimed a surprise 1-0 win in Donetsk to qualify for South Africa. Theofanis Gekas was the top scorer in European qualifying, and Greece also boast the attacking threat of Angelos Charisteas - who helped them to Euro 2004 glory. But I don't think they'll have enough in this group.

Prediction - Third
Odds - 150/1

KOREA REPUBLIC

After reaching the semi-finals on home soil in 2002, South Korea went home at the group stages in 2006. Huh Jung-Moo's team were unconvincing in qualifying this time around, and will need to find a spark of inspiration to make an impression in South Africa. Park Ji-Sung of Manchester United will be key to their chances, but it's hard to see them reaching the knock-out stages.

Prediction - Fourth
Odds - 250/1

NIGERIA

Nigeria were a genuine force in the 1990s, but the Super Eagles have faded since and missed out on Germany 2006 altogether. They needed a dramatic 3-2 win against Kenya to secure qualification for South Africa. They'll be without injured Jon Obi Mikel this summer, but in the likes of Obafemi Martins and veteran Nwankwo Kanu they still offer a good deal of attacking potential. On their home continent, Nigeria may just find the inspiration to emerge from the group. But that's where their journey will surely end.

Prediction - Runners-up
Odds - 150/1
