Pekerman goes for Gonzalez

Argentina coach Jose Pekerman has made one change to his starting line-up to face Serbia & Montenegro on Friday, with Luis Gonzalez replacing Esteban Cambiasso in midfield. The combative Cambiasso performed well in Argentina's first game of the World Cup - a hard fought 2-1 victory against Ivory Coast - but Pekerman believes Gonzalez's more creative approach will help to break down the imposing Serbo-Montenegrin defence. "The idea is to have the circulation (of the ball) that will allow us to continue getting forward," explained the coach. Meanwhile, Pekerman expects Lionel Messi to recover from his foot injury in time to take his place on the bench, despite the Barcelona youngster being unable to do any ball work in training on Thursday. He added: "Today, he got up without feeling any pain. If all goes well he will be on the bench tomorrow." Argentina's only other fitness worry is Carlo Tevez, who sat out training on Thursday because of a stomach upset. Argentina team to face Serbia & Montenegro: Abbondanzieri; Burdisso, Ayala, Heinze, Sorin; Gonzalez, Mascherano, Rodriguez; Riquelme; Saviola, Crespo.
