Pastore demands 'careful' approach

Javier Pastore has demanded a "careful" approach from his Argentina team-mates as they prepare to face Uruguay in a crucial Rio de La Plata derby in La Serena.

The Albiceleste threw away a 2-0 lead against Paraguay - built by goals from Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi - and ultimately found themselves held to a 2-2 draw in the Group B opener.

Gerardo Martino's men now need to secure a first victory in order to keep alive their chances of progressing to the next stage of this Chilean edition of the Copa America.

Uruguay, on the other hand, started with a hard-fought 1-0 win over unfancied Jamaica, thanks to a Cristian Rodriguez goal, and a draw would see them make it through to the quarter-finals.

Paris St Germain forward Pastore said: "We fell down when it came to getting the fine details right against Paraguay and that is why we could not end the game as victors.

"We have to be more careful and win this next one to get closer to qualifying for the next round."

The 2014 World Cup runners-up have not tasted glory in the Copa America since 1993.

Uruguay and Boca Juniors playmaker Nicolas Lodeiro said: "Playing against Argentina is always special.

"We will try to take advantage of their weaknesses and capitalise on our own strengths."

Uruguay are the current holders and have won the South American championship 15 times.

In the other Group B encounter, Paraguay meet Jamaica at the Estadio Regional de Antofagasta.
