Argentina coach Diego Maradona hopes Lionel Messi can perform even better than he did back in 1986 when the South Americans take to the field in this summer's World Cup.
Messi has been in breathtaking form this season for Barcelona and has been constantly compared to Maradona, but the 22-year-old has failed to produce his club form for Argentina and has even faced criticism in his homeland.
But Maradona has complete faith in his player and said: "I would like for Messi to be the most recognised player today - I think he will have a great World Cup."
