Loser Weir `Gutted'

Brechin pipped again While we sympathise with Brechin fans at their latest playoff failure (as well as their illegally small pitch), it may be poetic justice that manager Jim Weir has failed again. After their latest loss in the playoffs, gutted Brechin boss Jim Weir said: "It's heartbreaking but credit to Ayr because over the two legs I thought they were better than us."   For a manager possessing such a high opinion of himself, I think that's not really accepting responsibility.  No surprise there then. However he is building quite a reputation for failure - after being sacked from Montrose, becoming the first senior manager/club to go out of the Scottish cup at the hands of a junior side and now two successive playoff failures The silver lining for fans of both clubs is that a kind of `derby' will now become part of Div 2's fixture list, as well as the Forfar game.    If Jim Weir hangs around with Brechin - always a questionmark with such a slippery character - then I'm sure Lichtie fans would be delighted to renew our acquaintance with such an unprincipled, albeit unsuccessful figure   Talking of silver linings, what a great move that proved last May
