Having come through the club's youth development system, Liam turned full-time in the summer of 2009 and having played his part in the Under 19s campaign or 2009/10 he was given some first team involvement in the pre-season friendlies ahead of the 2010/11 season. Manager Derek McInnes was impressed with what he saw and gave Liam places on the substitutes bench in the early games, including the match at Ibrox on 28 August when an injury to Murray Davidson saw Liam make his SPL debut, still just 16 years of age. That early-season form saw Liam awarded a contract extension which sees him tied to the club until May 2012.
