Birse misses out for Arbroath

Midfielder Connor Birse is the only absentee for bottom side Arbroath due to a knee problem as they look to see off relegation by defeating Stranraer at Gayfield.

On-loan Dundee striker Leighton McIntosh is back in their ranks after an ankle injury with player/manager Paul Sheerin determined that his side stop losing goals at key times.

Sheerin explained: "I cannot fault the players for their efforts or their performances in the second half of the season, however losing goals at bad times continues to hurt us. We were winning twice at Stenhousemuir last week but only drew as we lost a goal just before half and full time."

Stranraer skipper Frank McKeown drops out of manager Stephen Aitken's plans as is serving a suspension however Stephen Stirling returns after a two-game ban.

Chris Aitken (ankle) and Marc Corcoran (hip) remain out long term.

"Despite fighting relegation Arbroath are playing good football and we need to be at the top of our game to get the win that will push us really close to the play-off finishing line," Aitken said.

"We were poor, very poor in the first half at East Fife last weekend but a very different side in the second. We played well after the break and need that level of performance again."
