Nicoll boost for Red Lichties

Kevin Nicoll comes back into the reckoning for Arbroath as they look to climb off the bottom of the table by defeating Dunfermline.

Nicoll is available again after serving a ban but Connor Birse remains out with a knee injury for the Gayfield side.

Seven points from the last three matches have given the Red Lichties hope that they can avoid the drop and player/manager Paul Sheerin said: "We had been playing well for a while and now we are finally getting the rewards.

"It will be tough to win against Dunfermline but if we do and East Fife lose it will be a massive boost."

Ryan Wallace returns for the Pars, who are bound for the play-offs.

Wallace is back in contention after more than a month out following leg surgery but Alex Whittle and Lawrence Shankland are injury doubts while Jordan Moore continues his fight against skin cancer.

Ahead of the game, Dunfermline manager Jim Jefferies said: "I am delighted that we have this game against a side that have plenty to play for. Arbroath have given themselves a chance of avoiding the drop and will be out to build on that against us.

"The determined approach they will have will be fantastic preparation for the play-offs and the players we select have the chance to ensure starting jerseys when the play-offs kick off."
