Fit-again captain Whatley back as Arbroath aim to snaffle chances

Arbroath skipper Mark Whatley is available for the home game against Cowdenbeath after shaking off an ankle injury.

Manager Dick Campbell has no other major injury concerns and is determined his side can start firing in front of goal.

Campbell said: "The difference between us and Forfar, who are at the top of the table, is that their strikers are scoring goals and ours are not as prolific.

"We made lots of chances against Annan last weekend, but we never scored until deep into injury time at the end of the game.

"We will look to get things right in what will be a hard game against a hard-working Cowdenbeath side."

Cowdenbeath's only absentee is Kenny Adamson, who has a back problem, and manager Liam Fox is hoping his side can secure their second win of the season against their hosts.

Fox said: "We played really well to secure a 3-2 win over Arbroath at their place in the Betfred Cup. A repeat of that performance and result would be terrific and the perfect response to losing to Berwick last weekend.

"We had plenty of possession in that game, but did not do enough with it and never looked like getting back into the game at 2-0. We will look to change that and take the game to Arbroath."
