Goalkeeper Gomes ready to go

Arbroath goalkeeper Ricky Gomes has recovered from injury and is available for the visit of Berwick Rangers.

Gomes picked up the problem against Inverness Caledonian Thistle's under-20 side in their midweek Irn-Bru Cup tie.

Josh Thomson and Gavin Malin, however, remain injury doubts for manager Dick Campbell.

Campbell said: "We have had Berwick watched three times already and know that we will be in for a tough game but we are determined that we get our season off to a good start. It is good to be going into it after winning 3-0 on Tuesday as that took away the disappointment from our heavy defeat to Inverness Caley's first-team last weekend."

Michael McKenna misses out for Berwick due to a ban.

Ben Stirling is available again after a knock but Sean Mackie faces a late fitness test.

The Borderers lost 3-0 to Spartans in the Irn-Bru Cup in midweek and manager John Coughlin is looking for an improvement.

"That game looked like it was one too far in terms of getting ready for the league," Coughlin said. "It has been a demanding schedule and the players looked they had nothing left in their legs. We have rested them since then and hopefully they will be much more like themselves against Arbroath."
