Win means Arbroath stay perfect

Arbroath continued their perfect start to the season as they convincingly overcame close neighbours Montrose 3-1.

The hosts, who top the table with four wins out of four this season, started strongly and were soon ahead when Bobby Linn got on the end of a Paul McManus ball to slot the ball into the bottom left-hand corner.

Arbroath doubled their advantage eight minutes later as Kevin Buchan slotted home Scott McBride's cross.

Although goalkeeper David Crawford had to be substituted after a collision with Garry Wood, Arbroath continued where they left off after the break.

Substitute Simon Murray had only been on the field for two minutes but he was able to control and smash home Scott McBride's long ball to make it 3-0.

Graham Webster's late header offered some hope for Montrose, but it was nothing more than a consolation, and Declan O'Kane was then sent off in injury time for serious foul play.
