Forfar prevail despite late scare

Forfar suffered a late scare against in a 3-2 victory over bottom side Arbroath at the Gayfield.


Dale Hilson put the Loons off to a flying start, stroking home Gavin Swankie's pass low past Sandy Wood after 13 minutes.


Hilson then turned provider for Swankie, as Forfar doubled their lead four minutes after the restart, with a precise finish from the middle of the box.


Swankie then doubled his tally, after 57 minutes, with a stunning strike into the top-right corner for his ninth goal of the season.


The Red Lichties pulled one back through Alan Cook after 68 minutes, who smashed a bullet into the top-right corner.


Leighton McIntosh put Arbroath within touching distance of a remarkable comeback, when he fired low to make the score 3-2.


However the home side were not able to find a decisive third goal and find themselves three points adrift at the bottom, without a win in their last four games.
