Arbroath pay penalty

Paul McManus missed a late penalty as Arbroath squandered a two-goal lead and were held 2-2 against Montrose.

McManus had the chance to win the game for the hosts with 11 minutes left but he blazed his spot-kick over the bar after Jonathan Crawford had fouled Dylan Easton.

The Red Lichties went ahead just before half-time when Adam Hunter swept in his second goal for the club after Robert Linn's corner was not dealt with.

Nine minutes into the second period Simon Murray scored his sixth goal in four games, charging through the Montrose defence before lifting the ball past Stuart McKenzie.

But two goals in four minutes turned the game on its head. First Scott McBride put through his own net in the 69th minute before Stephen Day poked home following a goalmouth scramble.

And Montrose earned just their second point in five games when McManus fluffed his lines.
