Smokies share spoils with Berwick
Arbroath and Berwick opened their Ladbrokes League Two accounts with a 1-1 draw at Gayfield Park.
Neither side could break the deadlock in the first half but the hosts created more clear-cut chances with Bobby Linn and Bryan Prunty both going close.
The home side deservedly took the lead after 58 minutes when midfielder Martin Scott drove a left-foot strike into the top-right corner.
Berwick fought back immediately and twice went close through Kevin McKinlay and Jordyn Sheerin before Steven Thomson equalised in the 69th minute.
