Ambitions for this season?

Stepping up a gear If we harbour promotion ambitions, what do the Lichties need to do with the rest of their season? Looking at the tables for the past decade in Division 3, (if we exclude the two seasons when the title was bought - by Gretna and East Fife respectively), the average points total for the division champions has been 74 points and to claim the fourth and final playoff spot 58 points.   Assuming no one team runs away with it, that means we need from our remaining 23 games - 52 points to be in the running for the title, and 36 to have a reasonable chance of the final playoff spot So far this season, we've averaged 1.7 points per game.  We need just over 1.6 points from our remaining fixtures for a playoff spot but a challenging 2.3 points for a tilt at the title (ie 18 wins out of the last 23 games).     Season Champions Pts 4th Place                           (ie lowest playoff spot) Pts 2009-10 Livingston 78 Queens Park 51 2008-09 Dumbarton 67 Stenhousemuir 56 2007-08*  East Fife  88 Arbroath 52 2006-07 Berwick Rangers 75 East Fife 67 2005-06 Cowdenbeath 76 Arbroath 55 2004-05* Gretna 98 Queens Park 48 2003-04 Stranraer 79 Peterhead 61 2002-03 Morton 72 Peterhead 68 2001-02 Brechin City 73 Peterhead 56 2000-01 Hamilton Acc 76 East Fife 53 1999-00 Queens Park 69 East Fife 59 1998-99 Ross County 77 Dumbarton 57 Average(excluding 04-05, 07-08) Champions 74 Final Playoff place 58
