Coyne fillip for strugglers

Strugglers East Stirling moved off the bottom of the Third Division table with a surprise 1-0 victory at home to leaders Annan Athletic.

Top scorer Bradley Coyne was the central figure, scoring the winner and also missing a penalty.

East Stirling had not won a league game since August but that did not stop them starting the game with purpose.

They had the chance to take the lead from the spot in the 36th minute when Aaron Muirhead fouled Andrew Stirling, but Coyne saw his effort saved Craig Summersgill.

Yet three minutes later Coyne made amends, stroking the ball home from 20 yards after collecting a pass from Craig Winter.

Annan looked to get back into the game in the second half but is was East Stirling who came closest to scoring when Kevin Turner's 20-yard shot was tipped over the bar by Summersgill late on.
