Duo set for Annan debuts

Annan have added Darren Ramsay and Aiden Smith to their squad ahead of the visit of Stirling Albion.

Midfielder Ramsay was released by Rangers at the end of last season, while striker Smith has joined on loan from Queen of the South.

Manager Jim Chapman said: "Stirling have been a bit of a bogey side to us in recent years and beating them would be a great start to the season.

"We have a new squad that have had a tough baptism with games against Rangers and Motherwell. Things are only settling down for us now and the addition of the two new boys is a great bonus. This game, rather than the cup ties, will show us where we are."

Stirling goalkeeper Chris Smith is a doubt after suffering a concussion last weekend.

Defender Ross Smith will definitely miss out because of a ban, while Stewart Petrie is set to return from injury and Ross McGeachie and Aurelin Mazel are struggling with knocks.

The Forthbank side went down 3-2 to Hearts under-20 side in their midweek Irn-Bru cup tie.

Manager Stuart McLaren said: "It was disappointing to lose a two-goal lead but hopefully we have learned for it. Annan will be looking to bounce back after going down to Celtic's Colts so this game will be fought out by two sides determined to bounce back and get their league campaign off to a flying start."
