Annan hit the winning trail

Annan ended their six-game winless run with a surprise 2-0 home victory against Elgin.

The Galabankies went ahead after 11 minutes when Graeme Ramage sent a thunderous effort into the top corner from outside the area.

Ross Jack's men responded well, and would have seen Daniel Moore get them back level were it not for a fine save by Alex Mitchell.

The Black and Whites continued to threaten after the break as Stuart Leslie headed against the crossbar from close range after 50 minutes.

Scott Chaplain was able to wrap up the hosts' victory with an 80th-minute penalty after Jack Steele was brought down by Paul McCullan.

Mitchell needed to be alert to deny Darryl McHardy late on, as the Black and Golds recorded a clean sheet and an important win.
