Davidson denies Rovers

Annan and Albion's unbeaten start to the season continued as both sides battled out a 1-1 result at Galabank - Scott Davidson sealing the draw with a late strike.

Rovers started the game strongly and went close to opening the scoring when Mark McGuigan was inches away from heading a David Crawford delivery beyond Kenny Arthur.

However, the visitors did take the lead just minutes after the interval when the referee pointed at the spot for a Peter Weatherson shirt tug, much to the anger of the Black and Golds players.

Despite the controversy, Crawford stepped up and fired James Ward's men into a deserved lead from 12 yards.

Rovers went to close to doubling their lead when McGuigan's header came back off the bar but, with the clock ticking down, the hosts salvaged a point late on.

With four minutes left, Scott Davidson picked the ball up just inside the area and dispatched a superb shot beyond Neil Parry to steal a share of the spoils for Athletic.
