Todd sinks Montrose
Josh Todd's second-half strike was enough for Annan to end a run of two games without a win by beating Montrose 1-0 to move second.
The away side made the brightest start and Bryan Deasley's powerful drive forced a fine save from Kenny Arthur.
Annan slowly worked their way into the game and should have gone in front after 28 minutes but Calum Ferguson headed wide from close range.
Scott Davidson went agonisingly close just afterwards but hit a post.
The pressure told just after half-time when Davidson's cross found Todd and he rifled home.
Kenny Arthur was called into action just after the goal as he repelled Scott Johnston's strike, and he denied Ross McCord late on as Annan held on.
