14 May 2011 19:09
Annan book final spot Annan held off an second-leg onslaught from Alloa in the Second Division play-off to earn a goalless draw which sent them through to the final. Athletic took a 2-1 aggregate lead into the Recreation Ground clash following their first-leg victory on Wednesday and they held firm to set up a final clash with Albion Rovers. Alloa were desperate to get back on level terms and started quickly with James Lister having a header saved by Craig Summersgill. The home pressure continued as Kevin Motion had two efforts from distance, with neither really threatening, while Andrew Scott and Stuart Noble both went close. Alloa thought they had levelled the tie on the brink of half time but Lister`s effort from inside the penalty area hit the post. The onslaught continued after the break as Alloa threw bodies forward and Michael Dunlop drilled just over, while Bryan Prunty headed over, but they could not find the elusive breakthrough which would have sent the game to extra time.
