Spirit delights Goncalves

Angola coach Luis Oliveira Goncalves was proud of his players after the country's first ever World Cup finals match ended in a narrow defeat against Portugal.

A fourth-minute goal from Pedro Pauleta secured a 1-0 win for Portugal, but Angola showed enough to suggest they could upset Mexico and Iran in their remaining group D fixtures.

"We played a great team in Portugal with a history of many World Cups," said Goncalves.

"But Angola will keep doing what we do, keep playing with great spirit and I'm sure we can make life difficult for Mexico in our next game."
