Shrewsbury 0-0 Coventry: Match Report

Burge the hero as rock-bottom Coventry secure goalless draw at ShrewsburyCoventry goalkeeper Lee Burge saved a penalty from Tyler Roberts as Sky Bet League One's bottom club drew 0-0 at Shrewsbury. The game was delayed for nearly 20 minutes in the early stages after Coventry midfielder Andy Rose clashed heads with team-mate Nathan Clarke as they defended a Shaun Whalley cross and had to be stretchered off.The Sky Blues had the best of the first half chances with Shrewsbury goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler saving well from Jordan Turnbull's 20-yard volley before also keeping out a shot from Stuart Beavon from just outside the penalty area.Stephen Humphrys fired a low shot just wide from 16 yards before the hosts were awarded a penalty deep into first-half stoppage time after Turnbull handled Alex Rodman's corner. But Roberts, on loan from West Brom, was unable to take advantage as his spot-kick was saved by Coventry custodian Lee Burge.George Thomas blazed wide for Coventry early in the second half in a tight game of few chances.Louis Dodds came closest to a breakthrough when his close range header looped just wide while, at the other end, Beavon's 20-yard drive was impressively kept out by Leutwiler diving low to his right. The point does little for Coventry's hopes of staying in the third tier as they are 13 points adrift of safety, and while Shrewsbury drop a place to 18th in the standings they are now six points clear of the relegation zone.
