Connolly takes charge

Alloa will have assistant manager Paddy Connolly in charge when Falkirk visit after manager Barry Smith's resignation last Saturday.

The interim manager has ruled out Stephen Simmons with a back injury while David Weatherston is a doubt after picking up a knock in training on Thursday night.

Connolly said: "Training was quiet on Tuesday night but things were a bit nosier on Thursday as we stepped up our preparations for Falkirk.

"It will be a tough game as they are going for promotion but every game in this league is tough."

Falkirk add Mark Kerr and John Baird to the squad that secured a Scottish Cup semi-final spot against Hibs last weekend by defeating Queen of the South.

The duo were cup-tied and missed out as the Doonhamers were defeated 1-0 with Luke Leahy, who suffered a head knock at Palmerston, only allowed to play if he passes an assessment by the club's medical staff.

Bairns boss Peter Houston said: "This game is just as important as the cup tie as we want to be involved in the play-offs. Alloa are a strong side and there players will treat this game as an opportunity to impress a potential new manager."
