Wasps' drop fears eased by win

Alloa claimed their first home win of the year with a comfortable 3-0 victory against 10-man Falkirk at Recreation Park.

Following a quiet opening hour, the game finally burst into life in the 62nd minute when the Bairns were reduced to 10 men after Phil Roberts was given his marching orders for pushing Michael Doyle off the ball and the Wasps wasted no time in making full use of the man advantage.

Firstly, Eddie Ferns showed great pace to go by David McCracken and emphatically finish from close range before Kevin Cawley doubled the hosts' lead with a well-taken header from Doyle's cross.

Barry Smith's men made sure of the three points just three minutes from time when Ryan McCord's close-range header beat Graham Bowman in the Falkirk goal to send Alloa eight points clear of the bottom two.
