Five-star Dumbarton batter Alloa

Alloa's poor form continued as they were battered 5-1 by a Dumbarton side on a hot streak.

The away side dominated from the start, taking the lead in the ninth minute after they had already hit the bar.

Scott Linton's long throw was met by the head of Mark McLaughlin and it evaded everybody to creep in at the back post.

Jordan Kirkpatrick headed home a Chris Turner corner before the half-hour mark to give the visitors a two-goal lead.

Things got worse for Alloa before half-time, when keeper Scott Bain fouled Chris Kane, who smashed home the subsequent penalty for his third goal for the club.

The Wasps grabbed a consolation goal through Kevin Cawley as they came out attacking after the break, but Kane hit his second of the game shortly after.

Kirkpatrick rounded off a fantastic team performance with 10 minutes left with a fantastic volley to round off the win, which sees them move above Alloa in the table.
