Dumbarton secure a first win in seven against Alloa

Mark Docherty and Grant Gallagher struck second-half goals as Dumbarton secured their first win in seven matches with a 2-0 victory at bottom club Alloa.

Defender Docherty converted from close range in the 71st minute and substitute Gallagher headed home in the 87th minute to send Alloa crashing to a seventh straight defeat and leave them without a win at home this season.

Dumbarton striker Steven Craig pulled a shot wide in the opening moments, while it was not until the 23rd minute when midfielder Graeme Holmes fired in Alloa's first shot on goal.

Visiting midfielder Kevin Cawley lofted his effort over when well placed in the 23rd minute but apart from Alloa striker Michael Duffy's wayward shot in the 38th minute, neither side mustered another chance on goal before the break.

But Docherty broke the deadlock midway through the second half when he stabbed the ball home from a corner and Gallagher made sure for Dumbarton in the closing stages, burying his header from six yards.
