Waddock worried by Howell

Aldershot Town boss Gary Waddock insists that Dean Howell still has a future at the club, despite allowing the wing-back to join Bury on a month's loan.

The 28-year-old has struggled to settle with the Shots since his summer arrival from Rushden & Diamonds, with Waddock concerned by Howell's failure to hit top form.

He told the News & Mail: "Dean can't get in the side at the moment and at his age and at the stage of career he's at, he needs first-team games.

"At the moment Dean is still in my plans. He's been frustrated at not being in the team and this is the best option for him at the moment.

"I still rate Dean, but by his own admission he has not played to the standard he would like this season.

"Hopefully he will come back from Bury with games under his belt, fit and raring to go."
