Waddock happy with Howell

Aldershot Town boss Gary Waddock has praised Dean Howell for his attitude since returning from a loan spell at Bury.

The versatile 28-year-old has struggled to find top form for the Shots this season, but has broken back into the side in recent weeks and impressed in an unfamiliar role at the heart of defence.

Waddock told the club's official website: "Dean would be the first to admit that he has not performed to the level he set at Rushden last season.

"But he's stayed very professional and kept himself fit. I asked him to play at centre-back on Tuesday and he did extremely well.

"I'm really pleased with him - he's a good footballer. In a small squad, whoever you are, due to injuries and suspensions, you will get your chance - Dean took that on Tuesday."
