Sandell to be absent for Shots

Aldershot Town manager Gary Waddock has revealed that defender Andy Sandell will be sidelined for a "few weeks" with medial ligament damage.

The left-back injured his knee during the recent 2-2 draw with Hereford United to further weaken Waddock's options.

The Shots are already without Adam Hinshelwood and Ben Harding and a wafer-thin squad at the Recreation Ground will leave Waddock scraping the barrel to field a team this weekend.

Waddock was without a full compliment of substitutes on Saturday and may be forced into exploring other options away from his squad to fill the bench this week.

He admitted the loss of Sandell was a big blow, saying: "Andy Sandell came off injured and it looks as though it is a medial ligament injury. It's another setback."

He added: "He was fantastic and has been excellent all season and we will now lose him for a few weeks which is not too clever."
