Aldershot Town manager Gary Waddock has strengthened his squad by capturing the former Shrewsbury Town right-back Ben Herd.

The 24-year-old former Watford trainee has penned a two-year contract with the Shots.

Despite signing full professional forms with the Hornets in July 2004, Herd left the club in the summer of 2005 without making a first-team appearance.

He went on to feature in 163 matches for the Shrews but spent most of the second half of last season on the substitute's bench.
