Day's injury woes deepen

Aldershot Town defender Rhys Day fears he will need a hernia operation as his injury-blighted season looks set to continue.

The 26-year-old former Mansfield Town defender, who has only started one game so far this season, does not expect to be fit again until late October.

"It looks like my hernia has gone again," Day admitted. "I had an operation on my right one in the summer and now the left one has gone and I reckon I'll be needing another operation.

"Normally it's about three weeks after a hernia op before you're back fit, so I guess I'm just going to have to write off the first two months of the season.

"But hopefully the injury problems will soon be out of the way - perhaps all the little niggles I've had have been connected to the hernia."
