Day expects quick return

Aldershot Town captain Rhys Day is hoping to be back in action within a matter of weeks after undergoing surgery on a hernia problem.

The 26-year-old defender has featured just three times for the Shots since their return to the Football League, but hopes to be back in the fold before the end of October.

He told the News & Mail: "I'll need to get some feedback from the surgeon but, judging from people who've had the same operation, I hope to be back in full training two weeks after the op.

"Then hopefully it's only another week or so before I'm ready to play.

"I've mentally written off the first two months of the season now and I have a date in mind when the season will start again for me."
