Yesterday's transfer rumours that Jermaine McGlashan could be on his way to Cheltenham Town, have turned out to be true.
The Croydon born youngster impressed the Robins last Saturday and has agreed terms for a two-and-a-half year deal with the Gloucestershire club.
Speaking to the clubs official website, boss Dean Holdsworth said: "This was a difficult decision. Jermaine has bundles of potential.
"We have secured a very good sell on so if Jermaine fulfils that potential we are protected.
"This agreement will give us the opportunity to bring some fire power into the club which is so important to us at the moment.
"I wish Jermaine all the best for the future. He is a good professional."
Speaking on behalf of the club Peter Duffy added, “Dean and I are in constant discussions regarding the squad. We are paying careful attention to the constitution of the squad for the future. The proceeds of Jermaine’s sale have been made available to Dean in order to add players to build a more stable squad.”
Speaking to Premium Shots Jermaine said, “This was a difficult decision for me because Aldershot Town is a special club and everybody has been so good to me. It happened so fast but it is a challenge for me and I hope it is good business for both clubs.
“I will always have great memories of my time at Aldershot. Firstly I am grateful for Kevin Dillon for having the faith in signing me from non league. I enjoyed working with him and was disappointed when he lost his job early last year but Dean Holdsworth came in and has been massive for me.
“He has been a good mentor and I like to think that I have worked well under him. From scoring my first ever Football League goal versus Hereford United, to beating West Ham United through to playing Manchester United they will always be fond memories for me.
“The fans were fantastic too and we had a great relationship. I wish everybody at the club the best for the future and I am sure that they will soon go on a run of results.”
A former Staines Town, Merstham and Ashford Town (Middlesex) player Jermaine joined Aldershot during the summer of 2010 and soon made an impression. He signed a contract extension in Feburary 2011 and, in total, made 75 appearance for the club netting five goals.
