Shots Shake-Up Continues

Boss announces those released and those offered new deals. In the wake of Chris Blackburn’s departure, Kevin Dillon has revealed that a further five members of his squad will not be offered new contracts for the 2010-11 season. Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz played his final game for The Shots in Wednesday’s Play-Off defeat against Rotherham United, and will leave The EBB Stadium along with Dean Howell, Lewis Chalmers, John Grant and Omer Riza. Chalmers and Grant spent the final three months of the season on loan at Oxford United, but neither featured in the U’s Blue Square Premier Play-Off Final victory at Wembley. Grant's 54 goals put him fourth in the Club's all-time leading scorers list but, despite being key members of the squad which won promotion to the Football League in 2008, both players had fallen out of favour under Dillon. Signed on a short-term deal in January, Riza made just one substitute appearance for The Shots before injury, whilst Howell also missed much of the season with a hip injury. New contracts have been offered to Aaron Brown, Anthony Charles, Scott Donnelly, Kirk Hudson, Andy Sandell, Louie Soares, Dave Winfield and Jamie Young, but loanees Marlon Jackson and Damian Spencer have returned to their parent clubs, Bristol City and Kettering Town, respectively.
