Quantuma Restructuring, administrators of Aldershot Town Football Club have issued another update to the situation at the club today (Thursday 23rd May 2013) but looking beyond the continued claims of the "positive strides" that are being made, it would appear that nothing is really happening in terms of interested parties stumping up the cash to save the club.
In the press release, QR state: "Let us reiterate that our ambition remains to find a potential buyer, and we are now working beyond the initial deadline of 8 June in order to get the club out of the difficult and upsetting situation it finds itself in. We remain optimistic that Aldershot Town F. C. will be playing Conference League football next season. "
Talk of working "beyond" the 8th June deadline would suggest that there will be no quick sell to any big bidders and the risk of receiving a ten-point deduction are looking even more likely by the day - but even worse, speculation will also grow that a drop even lower down the pyramid cold follow given the administrators uncommitted use of the words "Conference League".
Meanwhile, the Aldershot News are reporting that the Shots Trust bid for Community Ownership may have fallen down the pecking order after an unnamed consortium are in "advanced talks" with the administrators.
Speaking to the newspaper of Tuesday afternoon, Trust Chairman and Aldershot Town founder Terry Owens said: "We still endeavour to continue dialogue with the administrators in the hope of tying up a community share buy-out of the club.
"We remain one of several consortiums trying to buy the football club with 700 people having completed the survey document detailing the scheme. Our next stage now, however, is to turn the pledges into hard cash.
"The trust board are working extremely hard and attending lots of meeting to ensure our members' views are represented."
