Seventh hell for Macc

Macclesfield suffered their seventh successive defeat as Aldershot capitalised on a one-man advantage to win 1-0 at Moss Rose.

Colin Daniel pierced the defensive wall with a bullet free-kick in the 16th minute but Shots keeper Ross Worner punched clear with a sharp reaction save.

Danny Hylton turned neatly in the box in the 29th minute but his low shot failed to get past Jose Veiga. Moments later, Matty Hamshaw broke free for Macc but picked out Worner from 15 yards. Worner was again at his best in the 37th minute to palm wide a powerful Daniel volley.

Darren Jones skewed a 10-yard drive wide after 49 minutes for the Shots, and the visitors squandered another golden chance moments later when Hylton headed over from six yards. Josh Payne then sent a 20-yard free-kick inches over the bar.

Macc were reduced to 10 men in the 58th minute when Carl Tremarco scythed down Guy Madjo and Aldershot capitalised seven minutes later when the hosts failed to deal with a Payne cross and Aaron Morris stroked home the rebound.

Substitute Troy Brown nearly added a second for the Shots but his 20-yard drive was saved by Veiga's legs before he hammered a 20-yard volley against the crossbar deep into injury time.
