Aldershot Town defender Darren Jones has revealed that he will not be re-joining The Shots next season.

28-year old Shots Player of the Year Darren Jones has Tweeted that he is leaving the club.

In his Twitterhe posted:  "Would like to thank everyone at Aldershot.  Had two great seasons there.  Great club, great people.  All the best in the future."

The defender was signed under Kevin Dillon's reign in 2010 and became club captain (not team captain) last season and ended last season with the double honours of both the Supporters' and Players' 'Player of the Year' awards.

Speaking to the clubs official website, current manager Dean Holdsworth said: "We made Darren a good offer and I valued him highly.  A part of me is pleased for him and a part of me is disappointed to lose a player of his calibre.

"The fans will remember Darren fondly and we wish him all the best for the future.  We have to turn this into a motivation to find another success story for us and that is what we will attempt to do and what I have been doing since the end of the season as it was in the back of my mind that this situation may arise."

There has been rumour recently that the player had been offered a deal with Shrewsbury Town, but as yet nothing official has surfaced on their official website.
