Smalley rescues Spireites A Deane Smalley double cancelled out Tim Sill's first goals this season for Aldershot as Chesterfield claimed a 2-2 draw. Smalley headed the home side in front but Sills struck twice in the second half before Smalley levelled four minutes from time. The game marked assistant referee Sian Massey's return after the Andy Gray controversy and she awarded the throw that led to the opening goal in the seventh minute. Ian Breckin flicked the ball on and Deane Smalley outjumped his marker to score with a downward header. Aldershot rarely threatened in the first half but it was a different story after the break when the visitors took the game to the npower League Two leaders. They twice had efforts blocked on the line before Sills volleyed the equaliser in the 62nd minute and Aldershot stunned Chesterfield 10 minutes from the end. Mark Allott clearly handled a cross and although Tommy Lee saved Alex Rodman's penalty, Sills followed up to bury the rebound. But Smalley had the last word when he cut inside to drive a low shot into the far corner for his seventh goal of the season.
