Shots wait on duo

Relegation-threatened Aldershot will again assess Adam Mekki and Danny Hylton ahead of their crucial game in hand at home to Southend.

Midfielder Mekki and 12-goal striker Hylton have both returned to training after groin and knee injuries respectively but were not fit enough for Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Wycombe.

Defender Troy Brown made his long-awaited return from a knee injury as an unused substitute at Adams Park and he will be hoping for greater involvement.

Boss Andy Scott has no new injury problems but remains without long-term absentee Aaron Morris (cruciate ligament damage).

The Shots currently prop up the League Two table, three points from safety with three matches remaining.

Southend manager Phil Brown will run the rule over Ryan Leonard and Luke Prosser as he goes in search of his first win in charge at the sixth attempt.

Midfielder Leonard required stitches to a head wound sustained late on in Saturday's goalless draw against Bristol Rovers but is eager to play at the EBB Stadium.

He stands a greater chance than defender Prosser, who missed out altogether and is still struggling with a little bit of back pain.

Goalkeeper Paul Smith is set to sit out with a virus while Tamika Mkandawire plays the final match of his current loan spell from Millwall.

Boss Brown made five changes against Rovers at the weekend - recalling Leonard, Daniel Bentley, Anthony Straker, Matthew Lund and Freddy Eastwood - and it remains to be seen how he will line-up against bottom club Aldershot with just three matches remaining and the Shrimpers destined for a mid-table finish.
