Madjo fires Shots to victory

Guy Madjo's first goal for Aldershot proved enough to secure the Hampshire club a first home win since December 10 against 10-man Hereford.

The former Stevenage striker reacted quickest early in the second half to fire home from two yards after the Bulls had failed to deal with a bobbling ball.

Centre-back Michael Townsend was then given his marching orders just after the hour mark for pulling down Danny Hylton as the visitors' relegation woes increased.

The best chance of a turgid first half was a sliced Ben Purkiss clearance which was headed off the line by Hereford team-mate Simon Clist five minutes before the break.

Hylton had earlier saved the Shots as he cleared Lyle Taylor's goalbound header, before Yoann Arquin wastefully blasted over.

The three points made it much-needed back-to-back wins for the Shots after a sorry six-match spell, while Jamie Pitman's Hereford are now winless in four and just three points clear of the drop zone.
