Young can't pick himself

Albion Rovers player-manager Darren Young will miss out against Elgin at Cliftonhill due to a groin problem.

Kyle Turnbull is also absent due to an ankle injury.

The Coatbridge men are looking to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat against Annan in midweek, with Young saying: "We did not play as well as we can but I have to praise the players for the way they continued to work hard.

"We lost to a fluke goal, however we have the chance to bounce back against Elgin.

"It will not be easy as they have taken a lift from their new manager coming in and getting a draw with Arbroath."

Newly-appointed Elgin boss Jim Weir looks set to be without Matthew Cooper, who has been ill, and Archie MacPhee, who has picked up a hip injury.

Ali Mackenzie remains out with a knee problem, with Weir giving a starting role to Craig Gunn after he made a scoring appearance as a substitute in the game with Arbroath on Tuesday.

Weir said: "Craig's performance was just one of the things that pleased me about that first game in charge.

"He has come into my thoughts to start this game especially as we are up against a team that has very experienced players in all areas."
