Albion target new additions

Albion manager James Ward hopes to freshen up his squad ahead of the visit of Annan with the loan additions of Scott Mercer from Dunfermline and Mark Shankland from Ayr.

Fresh bodies are required as Peter Innes (leg), Kevin Nicoll (knee) and Pat Walker (ankle) remain out injured and Scott Chaplain is suspended.

Ward said: "I watched Annan in midweek and they played well in the second half to defeat Peterhead. We had a good competent performance against Deveronvale to progress in the William Hill Scottish Cup but we will need to lift things to win this one."

Annan welcome back defender Steven Black after an ankle injury and he could feature against their Coatbridge hosts.

A knee injury keeps Iain Chisholm out while Steven Logan remains absent with a broken foot, with manager Jim Chapman not yet able to pick his starting XI as both Matty Flynn and Kenny MacKay have been suffering from illness.

Chapman said: "Tuesday's game against Peterhead was very cagey until we made the breakthrough just after half-time. This game will be the same but on a much heavier pitch.

"We have to show the same mentality that we showed in midweek to stick at things until the openings come up."
