Airdrieonians make it six wins in a row
Airdrieonians took centre stage in Ladbrokes League One with an impressive sixth-straight league win, 4-2 at Peterhead.
The visitors were three up after just 20 minutes at Balmoor. Iain Russell teed up Andy Ryan, who beat Graeme Smith with a clinical low shot.
Within a couple of minutes, Sean McIntosh nodded in his first goal of the season, courtesy of Joe Gorman, who won an initial header in the box. Ryan added a third.
Nicky Riley pulled one back for the hosts, blasting home at the far post, and Peterhead also missed a penalty through Kevin Dzierzawski.
Leighton McIntosh did eventually reduce the arrears to 3-2, but Ryan then netted his second and Airdrie's fourth, side-footing home from close range after picking the ball up from Kevin Schmidt.
Livingston kept hold of top spot though. In a tight affair at Cliftonhill they overcame a stubborn Albion Rovers 1-0.
The Lions left it until the last two minutes before Nicky Cadden registered from the penalty spot. The award was made after Ross Dunlop fouled Dale Carrick in the box.
There was still time for Albion's Alan Reid to be dismissed for a second booking.
Brechin also had aspirations of ending the day on top, but went down 2-0 at Queen's Park. Ross Millen opened the scoring for the Spiders from the penalty spot after a foul by by goalkeeper Graeme Smith on Dario Zanatta.
Ryan McGeever made matters safe for the home side, heading in late on from a Sean Burns corner.
