Ajaccio have appointed Fabrizio Ravanelli as their new manager, the Ligue 1 club have announced.

The former Italy striker makes the move to France after serving as youth coach at Juventus and will be joined by fellow Italian Giampiero Ventrone.

Ravanelli will be taking his first job in senior management on Corsica but Ventrone, who will serve as his assistant, brings with him a wealth of experience after working under Marcelo Lippi at Juve and, most recently, with Antonio Conte at Siena.

As a player Ravanelli won the Champions League with Juventus in 1996 and also claimed the UEFA Cup and Serie A title while in Turin.

The 44-year-old also has previous experience in France having spent two seasons with Marseille.

Former boss Albert Emon quit Ajaccio on May 28 with club president Alain Orsoni citing 'personal issues' as the reason for his exit.

The club finished 17th in Ligue 1 last season, avoiding relegation by just two points on the final day of the season.
