Sido Jombati strike helps Wycombe see off Halifax

Sido Jombati's impressive strike helped Wycombe seal a 4-0 win over FA Cup first round opponents FC Halifax.

The defender finished off a swift team move just past the hour to double the visitors' advantage following Garry Thompson's opener, while Max Kretzschmar and Aaron Amadi-Holloway added further gloss late on.

Wycombe enjoyed the better of the early chances and took the lead after 17 minutes when right-back Jomabti's cross was flicked on by Sam Wood for Thompson to then fire home at the back post.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth had Matt Ingram to thank for keeping his side in front before the break as the keeper scrambled Sam Walker's goalbound free-kick to safety.

Wycombe dominated after the break and Jombati doubled their lead after linking up with Luke O'Nien on the edge of the box before curling a stunning effort past Russell Griffiths with the outside of his right foot.

Substitute Kretzschmar made it three with six minutes to go, dancing through the home defence before placing his shot into the far left corner.

In injury time Holloway finished well from O'Nien's through ball to seal victory in the first competitive meeting of the two sides.
