McNeil boost for Airdrie

Airdrie goalkeeper Andy McNeil is fit enough to face visitors Stenhousemuir in the Scottish Communities League Cup.

McNeil has overcome the injury that saw him forced off against Albion Rovers in the Petrofac Training Cup last weekend and will resume in between the sticks.

Liam Coogans remains out for the Diamonds with an ankle problem, however Paddy Boyle and Keigan Parker are expected to shake off knocks to feature.

Manager Gary Bollan said: "It was a disappointing start to the season when we lost on penalties, however, we have to put that behind us and move on.

"We do not want to start with two cup-tie defeats so we will be going all out to beat Stenhousemuir.

"However, I am sure that their manager Scott Booth will be saying exactly the same."

The Ochilview men will again be without goalkeeper Chris Smith, who has a knee injury, with Booth delaying naming his side until Josh Watt undergoes a fitness test

The Warriors are looking to bounce back from a defeat from Highland League Brora last weekend, with Booth saying: "We did not play well against Brora and paid the price.

"Airdrie had a disappointing result themselves, however they played well in patches against Albion Rovers but we were poor throughout.

"We will look to put that behind us and get our season going against the side that probably cost us a play-off place in the last campaign."
