Lister back and looking to shine for Diamonds
Airdrie have Jim Lister available again for the visit of Ayr but David Cox will b e absent.
Lister has recovered from a bout of illness while Cox is still suspended.
Diamonds boss Eddie Wolecki Black is looking for more of a cutting edge from his side.
He said: "We drew 1-1 with Stranraer last weekend and whilst I thought that we played quite well defensively, we did not do enough in the attacking areas.
"We restricted Stranraer to one chance which unfortunately they scored from. However, our ball retention was not good enough. It will need to be better against an Ayr side that has a lot of ability and has grown stronger as players return from injury."
Ayr have Brian Gilmour available again after a one match ban and Ross Docherty is added to the squad after two months out with an ankle injury. However, Jamie Adams is absent with a knee problem.
United manager Ian McCall is looking for his side to show a more ruthless nature.
"We defeated Forfar 2-1 last weekend and we will look to build some momentum now," he said.
"It was a wonderful goal from Ryan Stevenson that won the game but we should have scored a few goals before he produced his scissors kick. Hopefully we can be just as creative but far more clinical at Airdrie."
